Thessaloniki: Traffic controls and taxis – The 27 violations found and the fines
Over 2,300 driver violations were found within three days of operational actions for compliance with the traffic code in Thessaloniki

Controls and taxi drivers carried out in Thessaloniki traffic police control crews, as part of targeted operational actions for compliance with the Road Traffic Code and the reduction of traffic accidents.
Over 2,300 driver offences in three days

Specifically, from 8 to 10 May 2024, police officers of the Traffic Directorate carried out checks in the prefecture of Thessaloniki and confirmed a total of 2,339 violations, of which 534 were for speeding and 594 for truck violations.

27 offences were committed against taxi drivers

In the same period, officers of the Traffic Accident Control and Prevention Team carried out checks on DME cars (taxis) and confirmed 27 offences, including five for soliciting customers, three for violating the taxi priority order at the rank, four for multiple hiring, two for passenger-destination selection, six for not using a taximeter, five for not displaying a special IFA licence in a visible place, one for not displaying a price list in a visible place and one for a taximeter in a non-visible place.

The offending drivers were imposed the prescribed administrative penalties, while, according to a statement by the Thessaloniki Police Directorate, similar actions will continue.
